John Hardt,
Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Bioethics in the Neiswanger Institute
for Bioethics and Health Policy. He holds a doctorate in theological ethics
from Boston College and was a fellow at the University of Chicago’s MacLean
Center for Clinical Medical Ethics. Professor Hardt’s research interests
include theological contributions to genetic ethics, the ethics of
biotechnology, and communication in ethics case consultation. His recent
publications have focused on end-of-life care in the Catholic tradition and
the role of conscience in the clinical encounter.
On November 8, 2007, John Hardt, PhD was
invited to address the
President's Council on Bioethics on the topic of physician
conscience and the ends of medicine.
Professor Hardt
teaches courses in genetic ethics, religion and bioethics, and theological
methods of analysis in the online Master of Arts program. He directs the
ethics and genetics curriculum in the Stritch School of Medicine and
provides clinical ethics consultation to the Loyola University Health
System.
